Summary0001562: Allow users to change group/sort-by settings for latest anime
DescriptionWhile the new latest system outshines the old up2date in that it displays pretty much everything rather than simply the additions of the last few days, it has one big drawback over the old up2date functionality: it's relatively difficult to get an overview of a single series at a time.

If possible, it'd be nice to be able to select the group/sort-by field so that we could, for instance, group by anime rather than date to make using latest as an up2date replacement more user-friendly.

i have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

also you can see the latest release for a secific anime or group or anime by a specific group by just clicking the [F] in the latest view. works also by clicking "show latest" from the respective group or anime page

Bah. That'll teach me to post before getting ready for work, clearly I'm no good at explaining things when I'm not really awake yet.

Let me try to explain again: when viewing the Latest page (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=latest2&do.filter=1) items are sorted by date in descending order. This is great if you're looking for the latest releases, but not so great if you're looking for episodes you're missing. Even using the [F] link can be less than user friendly for this purpose, e.g., Koukaku no Regios lists files for episode 17, 17, 18, 17, 16, 15, 16, 15, 15, 14, 14, 14, etc. in that order (because that's the order they were released in.)

Allowing the user to specify the sort order so that they can sort by anime/episode instead of by release date would greatly increase the user friendliness of this feature for use as an up2date replacement.

>>"but not so great if you're looking for episodes you're missing"

that's when you look at the anime page and expand the episode in question.

sorting it by anime makes it an animelist with files with not much of a relevance
sorting it by episode is deeply silly unless filtered by a specific anime which is simpler to view on the anime page itself

i don't see the gained usefulness here just more confusion.

Ick, you're absolutely right—what I was asking for is not apropriate to the Latest functionality. As it turns out, I've been trying to force Latest into service as a "missing episodes" list, which really isn't what it was designed for.

Thankfully, I think I found the feature that I should have request an enhancement to from the start, so let's see if this makes more sense:

Would it be possible to add file info (when it exists) to the "Report - Mylist (Anime): missing episodes in mylist"? (Possibly as a new report.)

open a new tracker entry for this. and explain in detail what you want to see in that report.

this was a non-issue and the spawned idea was sourced out into its own entry.
